Oct. 17, 1923 ~ Jan. 12, 2013
Robert V. Johnson died January 12, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. Bob was born 17 October, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Inar Johnson and Ruby White Johnson. He graduated from Granite High School and attended USAC in Logan, Utah. When World War II began he worked at Hill Field. He then enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the 8th Air Force bomber group in England. When the war ended, he went to the University of Utah on the G.I. bill. Being restless he went to work for Western Electric so he could travel. He worked in Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Idaho. He then transferred to Mountain Bell. After holding several different jobs i.e. Engineer, Traffic Chief & District Dial Supervisor, he joined an AT&T company called American Bell International, Inc. in Iran. This enabled Bob and his wife Dorothy to travel extensively in Europe, the Middle East and the far East. When the Shah of Iran was overthrown, all ABII employees were expelled from Iran. Bob returned to Mountain Bell and assumed the job of manager of all central office switching equipment and toll facilities in northern Utah. He spent sixty wonderful years with his beautiful wife Dorothy Doolittle Johnson. Bob had two daughters: Ann and Janice and a son Stephen [Stefan]. Also three grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Bob's remains will be donated to the University of Utah Medical School.
