On July 1, at the age of 71, Roger Edgar Cater passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Roger was born June 10, 1942 in Coventry, England to Edgar A. and Kathleen D. Cater.
At the age of 5, he left England with his family for the United States. He traveled across the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Mary to New York and then settled in Salt Lake City. Roger graduated from East High in 1960, served in the Army Reserves and later worked in the Title insurance business in Texas and Utah. Roger married Barbara Beck in 1965 and had two children. Roger and Barbara later divorced but remained friends and continued to enjoy their family. Roger later married Lynne Renae Gerritsen (Babe) in May, 1991 and resided in St George, Utah.
Roger was a husband, father, grandfather and a friend. He loved to tinker around, whether in the garage or in the yard. He enjoyed travelling and driving his convertibles. He also enjoyed the outdoors; barbequing (his famous ribs), camping, boating and fishing. He was loved and admired by all that knew him and will be truly missed.
Roger is survived by his wife, Lynne, ex-wife, Barbara, children Roger (Natalie) Cater, Bryan (Cathy) Cater, grandchildren; Geri and Hailey (Bryan and Cathy) and Alex and Nathan (Roger and Natalie).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Cater family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to St. Marks Hospital and Advocate Hospice for the excellent care and comfort they provided to Roger.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
