Ronald S. Baker was born on March 31st of 1931 to Edward "Ted" and Helen L. Baker in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away on Thursday, May 9th, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St George, Utah after suffering from the effects of a fall.
Ron was a veteran of the
US Air Force
from 1950 - 54, and was proud of his service as a crewmember on the RB-36D bomber in the newly formed Strategic Air Command. He also served as an Air Force weatherman at Cape Canaveral. He was one of Salt Lake's top auto mechanics for many years, having owned and operated Ron's Chevron and Automotive Safety Service. Honesty and quality were his guiding principals in all of his business dealings. Ron and Pat retired to Kanab, Utah in 1996.
Ron married Patricia Ann Evans in 1955, and together they raised their three children and enjoyed many happy years of camping, hiking, fishing, dirt-biking and spending time with their friends. Ron was an avid photographer, and enjoyed tinkering on his antique automobiles.
Survived by sons Jim (Sandy) of Kanab and Neal (Michelle) of West Jordan, grandchildren, brother Eugene (Larae) of Taylorsville, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Ron was preceded in death by wife Pat whom he missed terribly, daughter Pamela Ann Stevenson, his parents and brother David L. Baker.
