West Jordan, UT-Roy Allen Davis, loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend to all, passed away surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a great legacy to all he came in contact with. Roy's love, joyfulness, kindness, gentleness, and generosity will be missed by all he knew and touched.
Roy is a coal miner's son who worked hard his entire life with success, integrity and honor. He lived to serve God, Country, and his Family with eternal values.
Roy began his service in the Army at age sixteen as a combat medic on the front lines of the Korean War. He served our country for 20 years earning many honors including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Roy began his civilian career working for the Postal Service. He then started his own business in direct mail. World Wide Mailing was a successful business that has blessed the lives of many.
Roy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving many church positions throughout the United States as well as in other countries.
He is a man who loved life every day. He loved playing dominoes, camping at Bear Lake, taking road trips, visiting the elderly, and telling many stories of his youth and the war with family and friends gathered around.
Roy is survived by his sweetheart of 61 years Lucy Arvetta Bogue Davis and his children Judy (Eliot) Smith, Janet (Neal) Brown, and Sherrie (Grant Johnson) Davis, as well as 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his brother Gilmer Davis, and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was welcomed home with loving arms by his son R. Allen Davis; parents Hobert Orin Davis and Beulah Bowman Davis; four sisters (Rena, Lena, Pauline and Charlotte); 2 brothers (Clarence and Jack), as well as many other loved family members.
Viewings will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates on 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville UT 84123, on Friday, August 30th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm and on Saturday August 31st from 11:00 am - 11:50 am. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 with interment at Redwood Memorial Estates. Condolences may be shared at memorialutah.com.
