Roy Charles Engstrom Obituary
1930 ~ 2013
Roy Charles Engstrom passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, of natural causes in his Salt Lake City home.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 7, 1930, he was the oldest child of Selma and Knut Engstrom.
In 1948, Roy joined and served in the United States Army. He married Eleanor Murray (later divorced). He attended the University of Minnesota studying in the area of metallurgical engineering. Roy moved to Denver, Colorado in the 1950s. He was quite active in the Boy Scouts of America. He held the position of scoutmaster for several years in Arvada, Colorado.
Most of his adult life, he was a sales engineer for the mining industry. He began his career in Denver and was transferred to Salt Lake in 1980. There he met and married Diane Jones in 1981. Diane and Roy loved to entertain and had a large circle of friends. After he retired Roy spent several years giving excellent care to his mother-in-law, Aleda Jones until her death in 2003.
Roy loved to meet people and always greeted them with a joke or story. He loved his home and community. Roy was an avid gardener and loved feeding the hummingbirds that visited his home
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Diane Jones Engstrom of Salt Lake City, his parents, mother-in-law, brother Kenneth Engstrom of Minnesota, daughter-in-law Dixie Engstrom of Colorado.
He is survived by son Randy, his wife Mary Engstrom and their son KC, as well as a son Jeff Engstrom, all of whom reside in the Denver, Colorado area. He is also survived by in-laws Randall and Janet Jones of Provo, Utah and Larry and Janice Foley of Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
