Royal (Roy) Calvin Faurschou passed away December 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, at the VA Hospital, from complications following surgery, and after a long, valiant struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born August 7, 1949 to Calvin G. and Lois Swift Faurschou. He graduated from East High in 1967 and immediately joined the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He defended his country proudly, serving two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of Elder.
In 1983 he married Colleen Sullivan, they had two sons. Colleen passed away in 2011.
Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his country and the outdoors. He was employed with Phillips Petroleum until the onset of his illness.
Roy is survived by his children, Tammy Marie and Sean, from a previous marriage, Branigan and Justin. Loving sister-in-law Shannon Sullivan, two grandchildren Shania and Kayden, mother Lois, brother Steven (Dianne) sister Nancy, nieces and nephews and many friends. Roy was preceded in death by his wife Colleen, father Calvin and baby brother David.
Services will be held Friday December 14, 2012 at the Camp Williams Chapel (UVMP) 17111 S Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale Utah at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
Following services, Roy will be laid to rest, beside his wife in the Camp Williams Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the VA for their kindness during Roy's last hours and to Shannon Sullivan for her loving, unconditional, and unselfish care of Roy. Thank You!
