December 31, 2013
Kanosh, UT-Shirlene Greenhalgh Black loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Shirlene Greenhalgh Black, 70, passed away on New Year Eve 2013 in Provo Utah. Her last days were of happy times spent with her loving family at her Kanosh home over the Christmas holiday.
Born to Valate Stott and James Lynn Greenhalgh in Meadow, Utah, she was raised on a small farm with five sisters. On December 21, 1963, she jumped at the chance to leave the small town farm life and married Richard Kimball Black in Meadow, Utah. They lived and raised three loving boys in West Jordan, Utah, for over 30 years, where she gained many friends. After working for many years as an executive secretary, raising three boys, and supporting her husband as a firefighter, she found her love and passion as a crafter. She would woodwork, toll paint, and create many fantastic items with her hands. She loved to decorate and create art for the home. Mom also loved her animals, often having a dog and multiple cats at the same time. In 2004, Shirlene and Richard built their dream home in Kanosh, Utah. Kanosh became more than a home, and Shirlene found a family in the community which she loved. She will be loved and missed.
