Wade Ernest Edwards, age 87, of Riverton, Utah and formerly of Ravenna, Ohio, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his home on March 30, 2013. Wade was born in Charlestown, Ohio to Wade and Hilda Edwards on April 4, 1925. Wade attended grammar and high school in both Charlestown and Kent, Ohio. He also attended Kent State University. In 1943, Wade entered into the military and served his country during WWII, in the U.S. Marine Corps, in the Pacific Theater. He received an honorable discharge from the Marines in 1946. |
Wade was a long time employee of Ward-Riddle Co. and Oak Rubber Co.
Wade married the love of his life, M. Katherine, on June 4, 1948 in Ravenna, Ohio. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1955, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Wade is survived by his wife, M. Katherine, their six children: Jeffrey (Sally); Jennifer (Paul); Jack (Debbie); Joanne (Darhl); Jeremiah (Brandy); and Jonathan, as well as 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, and by his brother Dan and sisters Eunice and Dorothy. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cliff, and sisters Vera and Hilda.
Wade cherished his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions including Bishop of the Kent-Ravenna/Rootstown Ward and Patriarch of the Akron Ohio Stake and Riverton Utah South Stake. Wade served a mission with his wife in the Washington Tacoma Mission. Wade devoted his life to serving his Father in Heaven, his family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Summerfield LDS Church, 13434 So. Hawthorne Way (3000 W.) in Riverton, UT. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. and Wednesday 1 hour prior to services at the church.
