Arnold "Arnie" Reyes was called home by his Lord and Savior on the morning of Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born in Beeville, Texas on June 28, 1932 to Rodolfo and Irene Reyes. He was proceeded in death by his parents and four brothers (Raul, Roy, Rueben and Roger). During his lifetime he served honorably for 28 years within The United States Marine Corps, The Texas Army National Guard and The United States Air Force. Upon his retirement from the military in 1971 he became a licensed realtor for the state of Texas. In 1972 he transitioned into a real estate broker and remained active in the field until his death.
During the majority of his lifetime Arnie was a respected baseball/softball umpire throughout San Antonio and parts of Europe. Additionally, for many years he was a baseball coach at both Camelot and Converse Little League fields where his sons and grandsons played, respectively. Arnie's grandsons also participated in the Judson High School baseball and football teams along with the UTSA baseball program, all three of which he was an avid supporter.
Arnie had an infectious smile and sweet disposition that filled those around him with joy. He is survived by his children Debi Sansom (Joe) of Windcrest, TX, David Reyes (Sherrie) of Puyallup, WA and Dennis Reyes (Lichelle) of San Antonio, TX. Arnie had four grandchildren who referred to him as "Popo", (Clint, Jacob & Amber Sansom and Alyssa Reyes) and two great-grandchildren (Nolan and Ava Grace Sansom). He is also survived by his best friends and closest colleagues Lillian Barnes, Rick Cox, Able Tavares, Ken and Marie Duke, Delores Beck, Judy Loper, Clem Davila and countless other family members/associates.
There will be a Rosary service held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Highway, SAT 78218. A Mass will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church located at 4411 Moana Dr. SAT 78218 followed by a committal service at The Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., SAT 78209. Pallbearers will be Ken Duke II, Jeff Cox, David Munro, Clint Sansom, Jacob Sansom and Ruben Davila. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Cox and Ken Duke I. Condolences may be offered at
