FLORES
LCDR Arthur Jerome Flores, USN, ret., age 78, died peacefully with his family around him on October 31, 2012. He was born May 8, 1934, in San Antonio, TX, to Miguel and Martina Flores and was a 1959 graduate of Texas A&M. Art served for twenty-six years in The United States Navy and is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars; he retired honorably with many service medals, including five Bronze Stars, to spend time with his family in 1982. Art was a devoted husband of forty-four years to Patricia (Dahm) and a dedicated and supportive father to his children Angie and Richard. Art will be especially remembered for his work ethic, his fortitude and his willingness to sacrifice for others. He adored his grandchildren and participated actively in their lives. His family and friends will always remember and treasure the many meals he enthusiastically prepared and served for them and the many home renovation projects he completed for them. His friends and family, and friends of his children, felt free to turn to him for advice and guidance, as he gave it with care and concern, without judgment, and helped in any situation he could. Art is survived by his wife Patricia of San Antonio; his children Angie and Brandon Fain of Humble, TX ; his grandchildren Brendan and Ashleigh Friday and Samantha Fain of Humble, TX; and his siblings Maria Flores, Guadalupe Herrera, Miguel Flores, Jose Flores, and Delphino Flores, all of San Antonio, TX; and many devoted nieces and nephews, who will miss him. Art was preceded in death by his son Richard Arthur Flores and his brother Roger Flores. Services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with a rosary at 9:00 AM, visitation from 9:30-9:55, and Mass at 10 AM. Burial will be at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2, immediately following the mass. A luncheon to celebrate Art's life will take place following the burial service at St. John Neumann Catholic Church Parish Hall. Friends and family are welcome.
