Barbara Ann Touchstone, age 72 of New Braunfels, went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013. She was a graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959 and a decorated member of the Thomas Jefferson High Lasso's. In 1962 Barbara received her college degree from South West Texas State. While attending she joined the sisterhood of Delta Zeta Sorority along with becoming one of the original members and 1st Lt. with SWT's dance team the Strutters. After college her social commitments and activities ranged from The San Antonio Junior Forum to The Barbara's Association of New Braunfels. Throughout her lifetime Barbara was a member of several churches. She enjoyed fellowship and shared her voice with congregations from St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Grace Memorial Church and most recently the Little Gruene Church. Along with serving on several church boards, she also served on the board of the YMCA. Over the years her generous spirit lead to active rolls in numerous charities. She loved karaoke and with honest talent she won competitions all over the U.S., several countries cruise ships which came as no surprise to anyone who heard her sing. She was an artist often sharing her talents with family and friends. Her genuinely sincere personality enabled her to form lifelong friendships and positivity influencing most who were fortunate enough to have known her. Over and above all of her accomplishments, talents and interests and interests was her love, devotions and commitment to her family. Barbara recently celebrated her 5 year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her parents AB and Billie Chambers and brother, Robert Allen Chambers. Barbara is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Gaylord W. Touchstone, Jr.; sons, (Trey) Gaylord W. Touchstone, III, Trent A. and wife, Cynthia and Troy W. and wife, Rose; grandchildren, Tatum Anne Touchstone, Haleigh Jo Hyre, Reid Allen Touchstone, Taylor Michael Mondick, Ethan Alexander Touchstone; ex-daughter-in-law, Vanessa Touchstone and great-uncle and aunt, Robert and Rena Chambers, extended family members from Florida to Texas and her high school girl friends the "BOB'S" (Bossy Ole Bitches). Even though we have lost a cherished wife, a beloved mother and a friend to many, find comfort in knowing one of God's greatest creations is by his side and safe for eternity. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North.
