Carl M. Cantrell, 76, of San Antonio, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was born January 24, 1937, in Nashville, TN, to the late Robert E. and Inez Cantrell. Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doreen H. Cantrell. He is also survived by his daughters: Julia A. Cantrell and Kathryn L. Cantrell Maddox and son in law Eugene Maddox; his much loved grandson Kristian Carl Cantrell; a family lifelong friend and his caregiver to the end, Cheryl Doucette; and numerous family members in the Nashville area.
He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 28 years and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also served 17 years in civil service. He was a patriot. He had a wicked sense of humor but it was never at someone else's expense. He was a loving husband and father. The world has lost a warrior, kind, gentle and fair man. He was the best and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's foundation.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 7-9 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401Cherry Ridge. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 13, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Interment will follow at Mission Retama Cemetery.
