Carolyn Farner Obituary

Carolyn (Yarbrough) Farner passed away January 8, 2014 with her family by her side in Elmendorf, TX. She was born March 10, 1944 to Heubert and Jessie (Erwin) Yarbrough in Jourdanton, TX. Carolyn was an avid sportswoman; she was a member of Devine's 1961 state championship basketball team, participated in and watched sporting events and she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren's different sports and band activities. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, RVing and loved to exercise, especially doing aerobics at Gold's Gym on Goliad. Carolyn retired from Asgrow Seed Company in Uvalde, Texas. She is survived by her husband Dan Farner; sons Tod Applewhite and wife Stefanie and Andy Applewhite and fiancé Jen; brothers, Dr. Leslie Wayne Yarbrough and wife Dr. Suzanne Yarbrough and Retired MCPON John Yarbrough and wife Vickie; grandchildren Heather, Megan, Kelsi, Emily, James, Clay and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Alyson and Kira. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10:00AM, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00AM at the Sand Branch Church located on FM 2504, 1 mile NE of Kyote, in Bigfoot. Interment will follow the memorial service at the Sand Branch Cemetery. To celebrate Carolyn's life, a covered dish fellowship will be held at the church following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carolyn's memory to the , P.O. Box 6678, San Antonio, TX 78209. The family would like to thank the members of Carolyn's Gold's Gym aerobics class and Sandra, Peggy and Pam from New Century Hospice, for their care and support during Carolyn's illness.
