Rev. Daniel Cisneros, born in San Antonio on July 21, 1936, passed away on Oct. 9, 2013, at the age of 77. He graduated from Fox Tech High School and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957. He married Mary Louise Gloria on Sept. 2, 1960. They were married for nearly 40 years until her death in 2000. One of the first seven deacons ordained for the Archdiocese of San Antonio in 1972, Father Cisneros was only the second widowed deacon in San Antonio to become a priest, ordained on May 10, 2003. He most recently served as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on the East Side. He was instrumental in transforming the church, boosting parishioner membership, raising funds for renovations and a chapel, enhancing children's programs and coordinated plans for a future rectory. He was preceded in death by his wife; his father, Juan Cisneros; mother, Paula Esparza Cisneros and four brothers, Juan Jr., Richard, David and Rudy. He is survived by sons Daniel Cisneros Jr., Gerard Cisneros (Chantele), and James (Patricia); daughters, Jackie Cisneros and Anastasia Lunsford (Avery Jr.); 10 grandchildren, Jessica Acosta, Ray Fonseca Jr., Daniel Cisneros III, Avery Lunsford III, Ava Mary Louise Lunsford, Andrew Lunsford, Jack Cisneros, Hank Cisneros, Kate Cisneros and Patrick James Cisneros; numerous nieces and nephews; and his parishioners. Visitation will begin on Sunday, October 13, at 3:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 14, at 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Mass to be offered at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery # 2. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 618 S.
