David Houston Obituary
David D. Houston, beloved husband and devoted father, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 27, 2013 in San Antonio, TX. Born on December 5, 1927 in West, Texas to Ruben Andrew Houston and Margaret Purcell Houston, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Carter Houston; daughters, Kathy Barto, Terri Sheehan (Mike), Tricia Andry (Jim); son, Steve Houston; sister, Joan Geary; brother, Dan Houston (Rita); grandchildren, Kelly Ryan (Garrett), Erin Sheehan, Jamie Andry (Emily), Sarah, Emily, Tina, Jenny and Thomas Andry; Erica and Ryan Barto, and Evan Houston; great-grandchild, Carter James Ryan; and numerous nieces & nephews.

After serving four years in the U.S. Army, David took a job as a clerk typist at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and retired as a GS-13 Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist after enjoying a 40-year civil service career with the U.S. Air Force. Responsible for logistical support and maintenance of the F-102 and F-106 aircraft weapon systems, he also managed the PQM-102 "Pave Deuce" target drone program for the Air Force Logistics Command. A well-rounded man of many talents and unique strengths, in his spare time he designed and built a new home for his family, and converted a retired school bus into a fully-equipped motor home for two month-long, cross-country summer camping trips with his wife Mary Ann and their kids. David especially loved spending time with his siblings and always looked forward to family reunions with his brothers Dan, Joe, Leo, Sammy and Dick, sisters Joan and Kathleen, and all their children. He was also active in his parish and community, serving on St. Luke's school board, helping establish St. Brigid parish, and being an assistant coach for his son's Little League baseball team.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 beginning at 9:00am, with a Rosary at 9:30am at St. Luke's Catholic Church. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00am, with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with Army Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Brigidine Sisters, 5118 Loma Linda Dr., San Antonio, TX 78201, or the .
