Delores J. "Dee" McGee Obituary
Delores "DEE" J McGee, 81, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Sunday, Jan 5th at Mission Park Funeral Chapel North. Burial will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery , 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 at 10:15am on Monday, Jan 6th. Dee was born in Weehawken, New Jersey on January 27, 1932. She graduated from Memorial High School in May 1950 and within the same month joined the US Air Force until 1952 when she left to start a family. In the early 1960's, the family moved to Texas and she has called San Antonio home since. In 1974, she received her Texas real estate license and later became a real estate broker. During that time she attended night classes at the SA Community College and graduated with an Associates' degree in 1978. She continued her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio and received both a Bachelors' degree and a Masters of Public Administration degree in 1987. Dee started her own Community Management company in the late 1980's and was one of the first 100 recipients of the PCAM@ (Professional Community Association Manager) designation. Dee loved her work and was actively involved in the business up until the time of her illness. She was a born teacher and delighted in working with those involved in bettering their neighborhood and the city at large. So much so, that she helped establish the San Antonio Neighborhood Resource Center; the first chapter of the Community Associations Institute- San Antonio (CAI-SA); and, most recently she served on the San Antonio Disability Access Advisory Committee. Dee is survived by one of her two daughters, two sons, three grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandson, a loving & supportive extended family and numerous professional/personal friends. Memorial donations in her honor can be made to the San Antonio Chapter -Community Associations Institute, Post Office Box 65204, San Antonio, TX 78265 or the San Antonio Humane Society, 4804 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX 78229. The family of Delores J.
