TRODLIER
Dorothy Caplan Trodlier, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. The younger daughter of Paul and Lillian Caplan, Dorothy was born on December 8, 1925 in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Corpus Christi High school in 1937 with top honors, she attended the University of Texas in Austin as a voice major for two years. Dorothy then returned to Corpus Christi and worked in the banking industry for several years. While working, Dorothy met her husband, Harry Trodlier, at a local dance. Dorothy married Harry in 1947 at Temple Beth El in Corpus Christi and moved to Sinton, Texas to take over Trodlier's Department Store. About 1958, Dorothy and Harry closed their clothing store and began a successful Real Estate and Insurance business in the same location. In addition to working alongside Harry in this business, Dorothy raised 2 children, served as President of the Sisterhood at Temple Beth El in Corpus Christi, group leader for Girl Scouts, extremely involved in community service through Epsilon Sigma Alpha serving in a number of offices including two Presidential terms, and a Paul Harris Fellow through Rotary International. Dorothy was preceded in death by Harry, her beloved husband of 45 years, and older sister, Estelle Aaron. She is survived by her brother in law, Charles Aaron of Van Nuys California, children Bil and Linda Trodlier of San Antonio and Marsha and John Small of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Elizabeth Trodlier of San Antonio, Daniel Small of Hua Hin, Thailand, Dr. Shana Small and her partner Dr. Neel Mehta of Chicago, Illinois, and one great-grandchild Kayden Harper-Small, plus nieces Michelle Merritt and Suzanne Ehrmann of California, and LTC Charlotte Weiss of San Antonio.
