HARDING
Edgar Stanton Harding passed away at age 88 on January 20, 2013 in San Antonio.
He was happy and joking when, "he got away from us" as the Irish say. He was born to Leslie Harding and Anna Boyle Harding of San Antonio on April 15, 1924. While attending Brackenridge High School he was a member of the swim team and the President of the Science Club in the class of 1924. During this time he joined the Boy Scouts attaining Eagle Scout Rank and was a member of the ROTC.
He joined the Coast Guard at the beginning of World War II where he served on an L.S.T. and an ice breaker until the end of the war.
He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Billie M. Hay on June 16, 1949. The many happy memories of their 63 years together are a great comfort to her. They loved traveling, fishing, horseback riding and spending time with friends and most importantly with his family.
Ed's parents and his brother, Jack Leslie Harding preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Harding Smothers, husband, John E. "Bud" Smothers; and Julie Harding Lang, husband, Frank Oliver Lang III; and his sons, Edgar Dennis Harding; and Paul David Harding and wife, Elizabeth Riggs Harding.
He is also survived by his grandsons Michael Brian Hartman and partner, Cheryl Jenkines, Coby Walker Harding, Frank Oliver Lang IV and Milo Stanton Lang.

A service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Coker Methodist Church in San Antonio. Burial will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. For expressions of sympathy, go to www.sunsetnorthfuneralhome.com
