CARDENAS
Eduardo G. Cardenas, Jr. went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2013 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo G. and Guadalupe Garza Cardenas, his brothers, Daniel G. Cardenas (Lupita) and Raul Cardenas (Gloria), his wife, Maria E. Cardenas and granddaughter, Yolanda Marie Cardenas. He is survived by his sister Bertha Alvarez (Alfredo), and his brother, Joe Cardenas (Bea) both from Harlingen, TX. His surviving children include Robert J. Cardenas (Jennifer), Eduardo Cardenas (Mary), Jaime Cardenas (Annie), Ernest R. Cardenas (Jacquelyn), David L. Cardenas (Norma), Eliseo Cardenas, and Tina Marie Perez (Robert). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Eduardo served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam era of wartime service. He performed duties at various bases across the United States and overseas. After active service, he taught high school Junior ROTC in Detroit, MI. He then returned to San Antonio where in 1975 he earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. He was employed for 8 years with the Texas Department of Public Welfare where he worked as a supervisor. He was active in the San Antonio Chapter of Catholic War Veterans, serving in various positions including President. The family of Mr. Cardenas would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Golden Palms Retirement and Health Center in Harlingen, TX, where Eduardo resided and to Mrs. Dulce Aguirre, who provided him with exceptional care during the last months of his life. Visitation will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 5:00 p.m-9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. with Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
