Eloy T. Mitchell went to be with his Lord on April 19, 2014 at the age of 68. He was born on August 28, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Pauline Mitchell, brothers, Ricardo T. Mitchell, Lorenzo Mitchell Jr. and Leonard Mitchell. He is survived by his children: Eloy Mitchell Jr. (Candy), Jeremy (Margie) and Valerie (Candelario) and Levi Mitchell, grandchildren: Salina, Eloy III, Gabrielle, Jeremy Mitchell, Jacobo Amavizca, Lindsay Ferry of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and Candelario Colunga IV., brothers: Rey (Annie) and Jesse (Lupe) Mitchell. Numerous nephews and nieces as well as many close friends. Eloy was as well known by his nickname FROG. He grew up in South San Antonio, TX better known as the circle and graduate in 1964 from Harlandale High School. Eloy served his country and was honorably discharge from his last duty assignment and major command Co. B 1st Bn 2d Bn 1st Infantry Division in the United States Army. He was the point man for his battalion and suffered two injuries in his tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; Purple Heart National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal Combat Infantryman Badge. Eloy worked Civil Service at Kelly AFB and retired in 1994 after 20 years of service. A visitation will begin, Thursday, May 1, 2014, 5:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A procession will depart the funeral home Friday, May 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. for a 9:30 a.m. mass to be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with interment to follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
