KNAUS
Emil E. Knaus, resident of Schertz, entered rest on March 28, 2014 at the age of 73. A native of San Antonio, he was born on March 12, 1941 to Gus and Wanda Knaus. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Gregory Knaus and his wife Annette; sister, Nadine Knaus and her husband Robert Balch; niece, Dana Kleinman and her husband David; grand-nephew, Cole Kleinman; sister's stepson, John Balch. Emil was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the San Antonio Fire Department, after serving for 27 years as a firefighter and EMT. He was a member of the V.F.W and participated in a wide variety of hobbies and activities in his lifetime including flying, spelunking, shrimping, reconstructing and restoring old trains, and collecting cold war military uniforms and memorabilia. He was a longtime volunteer at the Texas Transportation Museum. The family will hold a Private Celebration of his life. Memorials may be made in Emil's memory to the San Antonio Fire Museum Society or to the Texas Transportation Museum.
