Emil Matula Obituary
Emil E. Matula born April 4, 191,8 in West, TX to Josef and Emilie Matula went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2013, at the age of 95. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Emil served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lt. during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a Purple Heart recipient and a true Patriot. He was a member of the VFW, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4315 as a 3rd Degree Knight. He married his beloved Evelyn Agnes Motloch on February 5, 1945, and together they shared 68 years of wonderful memories and love.

Emil is preceded in death by his parents; his children Jeanette Matula, Kenneth Joe Matula, and Kathy Jean Murley. He is survived by his wife Evelyn A. Matula; daughters Jarolyn M. Popp and husband Bob, Margaret Schauffele and husband Roy; son Emil E. Matula Jr. and Yolanda Lopez; sister Evelyn Mayes; brothers Joe Matula and Theo Matula; grandchildren Robert Popp III, Emil E. Matula III, Jason Murley, Michelle Click, Joseph Matula, Karen Williams, Bryan Murley, Valerie Harari and Megan Schauffele; great-grandchildren Noah, Nathan and Natalie Popp and Harper Click.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Dellcrest Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 103 N. Guadalupe St., Granger, TX 76530. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granter, TX.
