THAYER
Eva, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in San Antonio. Eva was born in Leesville, Ohio on November 21, 1914 to parents Leslie and Tacy Smith. She spent her youth in and around Galion, Ohio, graduating from Galion High School in 1932. She graduated Cum Laude from Michigan State University in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Natural Sciences. Eva married Arthur George Thayer in 1940 in East Lansing, Michigan at the Peoples Church at Michigan State. She is the author and composer of the MeLand series of children's books and CD's and has an established web site at www.meland.be. Eva is survived by her four children; sons, Bill Thayer and wife Elaine, Ted Thayer and Candace; daughters, Jean Hash and husband Dave, and Susan Wallace; along with eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is greatly loved by many friends and family. Eva's life will be celebrated by a family memorial service to be held in Spruce, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, Eva has requested donations be given in her memory, Eva Smith Thayer to Michigan State University A500, The College of Natural Sciences, www.givingto.msu.edu/gift.
