Febe A. Herrera, born August 25, 1930 in Toyah, Texas to Elisa M. Ortega and Daniel G. Ortega, passed away August 25, 2014. She was the first born of that union. Febe was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Alvino Ortega, Horace Ortega, Daniel Ortega, the second Horace Ortega, and Reynaldo Ortega. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Charles Herrera; two sons: C. David Herrera and Victor Raul Herrera and wife Mary E; three grandchildren: Laura Herrera, Stephen Herrera, and Karen Herrera; one brother, Abel Or+tega and wife Rachel of McAllen, TX; two sisters: Delia Diaz of Ft. Worth, TX, and Carolina Ortiz and husband Jesse of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Febe learned to read and write before she started school and was an Honor Student thru Elementary, Junior and High School. She received her BA degree from Trinity University and MA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Febe retired from H.I.S.D with 27 years of service as an Educator. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ronald Hamner and his Staff as well as caregivers, Romelia Davila and Okie Ortega.

SERVICES

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 28 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 29 at Mission Park South with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Rayburn Elementary School Library Fund. Cards and Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
