He was a husband, a father, a brother, an athlete, a teacher, a singer, a deacon, and a Vietnam Veteran. He was Forrest Eugene Melton. On Monday, June 1, 2009 our precious Lord called him home. Our beloved Forrest was born June 5, 1945 in Seguin and has lived in San Antonio since 1958. He was involved in numerous activities, from football to track to class song leader, while attending Phillis Wheatley High School until graduation in 1963. He immediately joined the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, where he received numerous honors including the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the National Defense Service Medal. Forrest later worked in electrical engineering and computer technology. He was also very active in church, as a Deacon, President of the Sanctuary Choir, Brotherhood Ministry, and Sunday School Teacher. For us, his family, and all those who knew him, he was love, strength, and grace all in one. He was the one to turn to for everything and the one so many used as an example of how to lead a blessed life. He is survived by his beloved wife Lavada and precious daughter Sharron. Also, his brothers Don, Price, Robert, Ivory & sisters Helen and Darlene. Extended Relatives of the heart also include Martha, Jared & Veronica Garcia, and the Juan Ramirez family. Thank you to all who loved him, you fill our hearts. SERVICES
