Lt. Col. Francis Leland "Lee" Brownlee, Ret., U.S.A.F.

Passed peacefully on Sunday from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of the LORD. Lee was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, best friend and wife of 69 years, Adell; his parents, M. L. (Leland) and Luella; and brother, Calvin. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Don McClaugherty, Tyler and Carol and Mike Woolsey, Dallas; his three grandsons and their wives, Chad & Shannan, Scott & Mindy and Darin & Theresa; four great grandchildren, Luke, Aiden, Caleb & Abbey; and nephew, Martin. Lee was a very active member with the MacArthur Park Church of Christ in San Antonio, serving as a deacon and a Silver Server and starting a 25-year ministry to the widows and widowers of the congregation. He and Adell moved to Tyler in 2006 to be nearer their daughters. He was a contributing member at Shiloh Rd. Church of Christ at the time of death. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lee completed high school in So. San Antonio and went on to serve his country in the U. S. Air Force. He completed his B.S. in Psychology at Trinity University on Operation Bootstrap, becoming an officer shortly thereafter. A World War II veteran, he completed his 30 years of service in 1970 after three overseas tours, four years at the Pentagon and numerous assignments in the U. S. Lee continued his long term residency in San Antonio while working ten years for the Texas Department of Human Resources before retiring for a second time. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1st at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to the services.
