Frances Amala Hunter was born September 4 1925, in Fredricksburg,Texas. After graduating from Phyllis Wheatly High School, in 1943, she worked full time as a waitress and seamstress while going to school to become an operating room technician. Mrs. Hunter went to work at South West Texas Methodist Hospital, where she worked for over 20 years.
Mrs. Hunter also had the distinction of being married, for over 30 years to Henry A. Hunter who served as a Tuskegee Airman during WWII. She was also an active member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband and her brothers Paul Phillips Jr., Leroy Phillips, and Johnny Phillips. She is survived by her son Gary Hunter, nephews Alan Anderson and Paul Phillips III, and Nieces Paula Phillips and Elaine Phillips-Green.
Viewing will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 5-8 in the O. J. Carter Memorial Chapel, located at 601 N. Center Street.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 12:00 also in the O. J. Carter Memorial Chapel.
Internment will be in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
