VAN METER
George-Anna Van Meter, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 in San Antonio. George-Anna was born on December 22, 1923 in Vincennes, Indiana, to George and Edra Leist. She graduated from Indiana University in 1945. George-Anna was involved with her church, as one of the signers of St. Thomas Episcopal Church charter and as the church and school's bookkeeper. She also served at the church in many other capacities, including needlepointing of the altar rail kneelers and knitting for Threads of Love. George-Anna was one of nicest people you could ever meet, and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her friends, the "E.B.s", and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Van Meter Jr. George-Anna is survived by her son, Michael C. Van Meter; daughters, Jill Freeborn and Kay Cohen (late husband, Ted Cohen); grandchildren, Jessica Edison, Harrison R. Cohen, Jenny Freeborn, Joshua M. Van Meter, Christian M. Van Meter; sister, Edra Jean Alvis Scheidt; nephew, Greg Alvis; niece, Gina Bishop. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. The interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be private.
