Harry Stephens Jr. Obituary
Harry Hart Stephens, Jr., M.D., was born July 28, 1932 to Harry Hart Stephens, Sr., M.D. and Nelda Mae Magnusson. He went home to be with his Lord Jesus on May 16, 2013. Dr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Lorraine Louise Stephens and Lisa Marie Bass. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dianne S. Stephens, a sister Betty Holzapfel and his three sons, Michael and his wife Rebecca, Scott and Mark Stephens. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tracy, Bradley and Bryan, Erin, Billy, Shannon and Mitchell, and seven great grandchildren. Dr. Stephens received his Bachelor's degree from Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana in 1955. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Chicago in June of 1959. He did his Internship and Residency at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, and then moved his family to San Antonio, Texas where he practiced Medicine for 40 years from 1961 to 2001. Harry Stephens loved the practice of medicine which was second only to his love for his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He did mission work in Mexico for over 40 years. He worked with T.I.M.E. for Christ Mexico Missions, setting up medical clinics in the mountain villages of Mexico to minister to the poor and needy and to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Stephens was a member and Deacon at the Castle Hills First Baptist Church. He also sang in the Adult and Senior Adult choirs and played the piano for his Sunday School Class. Most notable of all desires and legacies he could leave was knowing each of his family members knew the Lord. He never passed up an opportunity to share his faith in Christ as the only hope of eternal life. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., on Monday, May 20, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Castle Hills First Baptist Church, 2220 NW Military Hwy., at 10:00 a.m., with Visitation for one hour prior to the service.
