James W. Hawkins, beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord August 10, 2013. He was born September 22, 1927 in Bonham, TX to Van and Ada Bell Hawkins who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jean Hawkins in 2007 and sons, J. Michael Hawkins and Stephen B. Hawkins. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Toon and husband Richard of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Sean David Corbut of Austin, Texas; Lauren Michelle Corbut, of Atlanta, GA; Louis Michael Hawkins, of Castroville, Texas, and Daughter in Law, Leslie Hawkins, of Castroville, Texas. Jim was widely recognized as an expert in worker's compensation, casualty, property and life insurance underwriting and worked with Texas Employer's Insurance Association for 42 years. He attained several prestigious goals in the industry early in his career, such as the CPCU and CLU certifications. He was a lifelong member of the Rotary Clubs, International. Jim served in the Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. While in the Navy, he began learning his craft as a woodworker, a skill that he mastered and continued to utilize throughout his life in producing beautiful pieces of furniture and woodwork for family and friends. He loved the game of golf, and was committed to the San Antonio Men's Golf Association for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, August 19, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association c/o Erin Lobosco, 2822 Belvoir Dr. San Antonio, TX 78230 in his memory.
