KELLER
James (Jim) Casper Keller, Sr. met his Lord on April 26, 2013 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Jim was born at home on Becker Street in San Antonio to Max and Elise Keller on Oct. 13, 1933 as the youngest of 13 children. He proudly served his country as a firefighter in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service, he met the love of his life, Margie Heinesh. They married on May 4, 1957.
Jim was very active in his local Catholic churches, including St. Cecilia's, St. Patrick's, St. Joan of Arc, and St. Joseph's Honey Creek. Jim served in leadership roles for various religious societies and committees throughout his life. Jim retired from American Can Company after 34 years, where he served as the Union President for the United Steel Workers of America.
Jim is survived by his family, his grandest legacy, and his pride and joy - his wife, Margie, their four children, James Jr. and wife Carol, Steve and wife Darcy, Dana and husband Chris Gawlik and Carol and Bill Meyer, as well as his nine grandchildren - Steve Jr., Daniel, Shara, Kyle, Jason, Brian Keller, Samantha, Stephanie, and Sydney Gawlik three great-grandchildren - Cash, Colton, and Hayden and his little dog Boo Boo. Jim is also survived by one remaining sister, Elise Moryl, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim's character, poise, and love for his family will be greatly missed; the family appreciates all of the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Services to honor Jim will be held at St. Joseph's Honey Creek Church (the old church) on Tuesday, April 30th. Rosary and Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m.; after services, Jim will be laid to rest in the cemetery at St. Joseph's Honey Creek Church.
