John (Jack) Wesley Garnett, of Canyon Lake, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born September 10, 1928 in San Antonio to William and Ethel Garnett. His 24 years in military service included service in the US Navy, US Coast Guard and retiring from US Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1970. After his military career he joined KMOL Channel 4 as an Electronic Engineer and retired again in 1995 to life at the lake. He was very proud of his military service & his family. He was quite a knowledgeable conversationalist and/or agitator. He was also truly a "Jack of All Trades" sharing that knowledge with any who asked.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved Bonnie, who preceded him in death in 1996. He was also a dedicated and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Jack passed away in the home he & his family built, with his family beside him.
He is survived by his sister Flo Benoit and husband Daniel; his five children, Linda Chicoine and husband Rick, Jackie McEathron and husband David, Celeste Brewer and husband Buck, Susan Maggio and husband Bobby and John (Wes) Garnett, Jr. and wife Letty; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Memorial services are being held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shepard of the Hill Church, 8427 FM 2673, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133. Fellowship to follow at the VFW Post in Startzville.
