Josephine Wilkin Obituary
Our beautiful mother, Joesphine Lewright Wilkin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013. Her spirit was free from this earth at the age of 94. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 14, 1918. She attended Alamo Heights High School with her sister Ruth and then attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She majored in Home Economics and then continued her love for gardening and homemaking the rest of her life in both California and Texas. She was married to her first husband Herbert Gerth in a double wedding with her sister Ruth and Ruth's husband Emil Weilbacher at First Presbyterian Church. She settled in Tarzana, California in 1951 and returned to her birthplace, San Antonio, in 1999. While in California she was President of her Women's Club and was a successful investment realtor in the Los Angeles area. When she moved back to San Antonio, she became an honorary member of the Inner Wheel Rotary Club and attended Laurel Heights Garden Club where she enjoyed her passion for flowers with daughter Tina and granddaughter Tracy. She was an elegant, gracious and courageous woman. She had a unique gift that made everyone around her feel special and was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth McKinney Lewright, her father Walter Lewright of Corpus Christi, her daughter Caroline Sue Brim, her sister Ruth Weilbacher, her first husband Herbert Gerth (1947), and her second husband Matthew Cullen Wilkin. She is survived by her two loving children, Tina Lyons and husband Bill, Matthew Cullen Wilkin and wife Becky, grandchildren Christopher Michael Morse and wife Stacia, Tracy Williams and husband Jack, Elizabeth Lyons, Emily Wilkin, Cullen Wilkin, Aubrey Wilkin, step grandchildren Crystal and Chandra Christensen, Robert Lyons, Gini Ingari, great grandchildren Christopher and Kate Morse, Josie, Sophie and Olive Williams, her niece Joan Woodley and husband Fred, her nephews Martin Weilbacher and wife Jakey, Bruce Weilbacher and wife Kim, Brad Wilkin and all of their devoted children, grandchildren and step grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving relatives of the Gerth, Cheever and Spielhagen Families and many friends. Josephine loved celebrations including Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, and we hope you join us in a celebration of her life.
