Kent W. Richardson went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2014. Kent was born May 27, 1926, near Ballinger, TX. He graduated from Harlendale HS and joined the US Navy in 1946 whereby he served his country for 8 yrs. His ship, the USS Hollandia, was in active battle in WWII and the Korean War. He was close to the Lord and when at battle he would carry his Bible and read it faithfully while helping his gunner's mates on the 5" thirty-eight gun. It was a true testament of his faith in God. I hold this Bible dear to my heart, along with his words to me when he knew he was dying, "Honey, you have got to be brave." Kent graduated from college and worked for State Farm Insurance for over 31 years, until he retired at age 70.
Kent is survived by daughter Beverlee and Son-n-Law Kelly, grandchildren, Austen and Reanna Keithly, 2 sisters, Linda Ringland and Melba Dorbandt and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife and son Dorothy and Larry, mother and father Eula and Gerald, brothers Owen, Glen, and Wade Richardson. Kent was courageous, but lost his battle with melanoma after 3 yrs. Even when very sick, he still found time to make jokes with his Dr's, family, and caregivers. Anyone that ever knew him fell in love with his personality. Kent loved to hunt, fish, and swim and spend time at his farm with friends and family. I would like to thank all the caregivers with Everlasting Home Health Care that helped care for him. He lived his life to the fullest at home and in happiness everyday watching his beautiful exotic plants and birds out his picture window. It brought many smiles to his face and he was at peace with God. He is no longer in pain but serving the right hand of Jesus Christ our Father. Until we meet again, I love you Daddy and will miss you every day
