COLLIE
Lamar Pitcher Collie, Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2013. He was born on July 11, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia to Lamar P. Collie, Sr. and Agnes Coheley Collie. He attended Richmond Academy High School in Augusta and the University of South Carolina on a football scholarship, graduating with a degree in chemistry. While at the University of South Carolina, he met the love of his life Lexie Margaret Stokes of Darlington, South Carolina and they were married on December 23, 1951. Lamar attended The Medical College of Georgia specializing in Orthopedic Surgery. After medical school he joined the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty then settled in San Antonio, Texas. Lamar set up his Orthopedic practice with the San Antonio Orthopedic Group as one of that groups founding members retiring in 2000. Lamar is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lexie, and is survived by his five children: Dr. Lamar P. Collie, III, wife Betty, his son Christopher and wife Jessica, daughters Mary and Caitlin, their mother Rebecca A. Collie; Dr. Robert A. Collie, wife Karen, son Robert and wife Brittney, son Michael; Bryan D. Collie, wife Carol, daughters Candice Greenfield and husband Chris, Kristen and Courtney; Claire Collie Mitchell, husband Robert their children Meredith Sims and husband Patrick, son Fowler, daughters Lexie and Camille; Bruce S. Collie, wife Holly their children Devyn, Jordyn, Jensen, Denton, Branson, Cameron, Bergyn, Calyn, Hadyn, Hansen, Daltyn, Jadyn, Dennison; niece Mary Agnes Dallas and nephew Van Jackson. Lamar was known as "Dandaddy" to all of them and "Pitch" to family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lamar P. Collie, Sr. his wife Mary Jo, his sister Helene Jackson and his mother, Agnes Coheley. The family wishes to thank Sodalis Elder Living and their staff for the loving care and respect they provided Lamar.
