Leah Irene Morton, beloved daughter of Judy and the late Cliff Morton, passed away July 2 at her home in Boulder, Colorado. She was born February 7, 1968 in San Antonio and was the sixth generation of her family to be baptized and confirmed at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels. Leah attended Saint Mary's Hall, Madison High School, Texas A & M University and the University of Colorado. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Irene and A.D. Nuhn, Sr. of New Braunfels, and Ruby and Eugene Morton of San Antonio. She is survived by her mother; aunts and uncles, Mitzi and Lloyd Dreher, Mary Morton Etheridge of San Antonio, and Vivian and A.D. Nuhn, Jr. of New Braunfels. She is also survived by first cousins Dr. Beverly Dreher Flechsig, Dr. Linda Dreher Hausenfluke, Dr. Joan Dreher Luce, Mark Nuhn, Laurie Neal, Dennis Nuhn, David Nuhn, Katy Etheridge, and Blake Etheridge. Leah was a free spirit and loved the mountains of Colorado, enjoying both winter and summer sports. Equally beloved was the family ranch in South Texas, where she enthusiastically observed the wildlife while also hunting for arrowheads and accumulating an impressive collection. Her love of animals was well known and caring for them from an early childhood was a passion. Her artistic creativity broadened over time to include works in metal and precious metal clay. Leah's church was the outdoors where she was inspired by all that God made. A private memorial service will be held at the family home in San Antonio. For those who choose to honor Leah's memory with a memorial contribution, the family has suggested The Humane Society, 4804 Fredericksburg Rd., San Antonio, TX 78229 www.sahumane.org or a .
