Linda Krentz Knieriem, 62, of Boerne, passed away on Sunday March 3, 2013 in San Antonio. Linda was born January 11, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Sylvestor Joseph Krentz and Helen Maxine Carpenter Krentz. Linda moved to San Antonio in 1965 and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1969. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston in 1973 and pursued additional certification in the field of medical technology. Linda married Bradley William Knieriem on November 8, 1980 in San Antonio. Linda worked for more than 20 years as an administrative leader for research programs at the University of Texas Health Science Center. She served as the Administrative Manager for the Frederic C. Bartter General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) . Following her GCRC work, Linda managed the extensive bone metabolism and endocrinology studies directed by Dr. Gregory Mundy. Linda was also a key member of the management team for Dr. Mundy's biotechnology firm, Osteoscreen, which searched for new drugs to treat osteoporosis and other bone conditions. In 2006, Linda returned to her administrative leadership at the UT Health Science Center, being the project Director of Research Operations for the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science. Linda was always known by her colleagues and co-workers as having a can-do spirit, being quick acting, a proactive problem solver, creative, and flexible. Her kindness, graciousness, upbeat spirit, and positive outlook, even in the face of personal adversity will be missed by all of her colleagues, friends, and family. In addition, Linda enjoyed quilting and quilted for her many friends, family, and for her church. Her quilts are displayed throughout the country and many have been auctioned at charity fund raising events. Linda was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. While facing the adversity of cancer, many of her friends, colleagues, and family were amazed by her strong, confident faith that was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Survivors include her husband Bradley W. Knieriem; brother, David R. Krentz of Houston; aunts, Wanda Miliken, and Avis McKeever; uncle, Jack Carpenter of California, and numerous cousins. A Rosary is scheduled for 7 PM Thursday March 7th at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail San Antonio, Texas . A Memorial service is scheduled for 10 AM Friday March 8th at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
