Mark Patrick Taylor, age 63, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on April 21, 1950 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, to Nelson Wayne and Rita Taylor. Mark graduated from Robert Lee High School in San Antonio in 1969. He spent two years in the United States Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Viet Nam. While serving his country, he earned the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mark earned an associate of Applied Science degree from San Antonio College in Fire Science. He began his career with the Olmos Park Fire Department and went on to serve thirty years in the San Antonio Fire Department. Mark was excited to go to work each shift. It was not just a job, but a passion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Christy Taylor; son, Kevin Wayne Taylor and wife, Megan; daughters, Melissa Taylor Israel and husband, Tom, and Kara Taylor Harrison; grandchildren: Brylee Taylor, Taylor and Chloe Israel, Madilynn, Kinley and Maci Harrison; sisters, Sheila Taylor and husband, Walter Kennedy, Kathleen Hall and husband, Steve; brother, Brian Taylor and wife, Becky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
