BAILEY
Nicholas Scott Field Bailey died peacefully in his sleep on November 7, 2013 at his home in Austin.
He was born June 11,1947 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Scott Field Bailey and Evelyn Williams Bailey. He grew up in Austin and Houston. He graduated from St. John's School in Houston and attended the University of Texas in Austin.
Mr. Bailey worked for Security Lumber Company in Houston and then for Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages for many years.
He was known for his big heart, generosity and intelligence. He loved to spend time with his friends and family and was often found on Lake Austin in his boat. Nick will be remembered for his love of life. He reported that unlike most of his friends, he became more liberal in his politics as he got older. He was an avid reader and kept everyone informed about local, state and world affairs as well as history and literature. He was especially proud of his son Nicholas and daughter-in-law Miranda and was the very proud grandfather of Emerson.
He is survived by his son Nicholas Newport Bailey (Miranda Gong Bailey), his grandson
Emerson Yong Bailey, his mother Evelyn Williams Bailey, sisters Sarah Bailey Fitzsimons (Hugh Asa Fitzsimons III) and Louise Bailey Taylor, brother Scott Field Bailey, Jr. (Mary Louise Porter Bailey) and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
His was preceded in death by his father The Right Reverend Scott Field Bailey and his brother-in-law Allen Clayton Taylor.
May his soul and the souls of all departed rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church (207 West 27th Street, Austin, Texas 78705) at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 22. The Rev. Michael K. Adams will officiate.
