Opal Berniece Fahy went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July 12, 1918 in Hazelgreen, Missouri to Jaleny Davis Wilson and Myrtle Mae Park. Mrs. Fahy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond F. Fahy. She is survived by her daughters, Opal Jean Durbin (Michael), Nancy Ann Owens and Patricia Sue Brenner (Mark); son, Robert F. Fahy (Carol); sister, Gussie Alexander (Robert); 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Opal joined the Women's Army Corps after World War II, and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone where she met and married Raymond Fahy. After raising four children, she turned her energies to helping others. Opal volunteered at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio for 20 years, and was very active in the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas at St Matthews Catholic Church. Opal's greatest joy was having her family around her and spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Oak Hills Mortuary. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 1:00pm at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78230. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the or to the .There will be a reception held at the church at 11:30am for family and friends.
