BREHMER
ORIS A. BREHMER, 89, passed away April 15, 2014. Born in Luckenbach, Texas on December 29, 1924, to Walter E. and Dorothea A. Schupp Brehmer, he attended high school in Fredericksburg, class of 1942. Oris enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was awarded a Purple Heart on September 15, 1944 on Peleliu. He served as a corpsman with the 1st Marine Division from Australia through the South Pacific, New Britain, Peleliu, Okinawa, and China, before being honorably discharged in 1946. He married his wife of 65 years, Jean, on October 9, 1947. After 20 years in San Antonio, they made their home in Houston in 1967. Their lives were changed forever with the birth of their only child, Joyce Jean, born 23 years (!) after they married. Oris was employed at Kinder Morgan (and its predecessors) from 1946 to 1989. In retirement, Jean and Oris enjoyed volunteering and traveling, taking 57 different trips all over the world.
He is survived by his daughter Joyce Brehmer, of Austin, and was preceded in death by his wife Jean Feller Brehmer, his brother Stanley J. Brehmer, and his parents.
A Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., on Monday April 21, 2014, Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. , Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Sugar Grove Church of Christ, Meadows Place, Texas. Interment will be held at 1:oo P.M., on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Texas, with full Military Honors
