MENDOZA
Paul Mendoza, age 86, of San Antonio passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He was born in Gonzales, Texas to Encarnacion Mendoza and Felicita Villarreal. Paul attended Gonzales High School. After high school he went on to receive his Associate of Arts degree from San Antonio College in 1958 and pursued further education at St. Mary's University. Paul served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged for his service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Paul was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the United Nations Service Medal with an honorable discharge on July 8, 1952.He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for over 25 years. Concurrent with his postal service employment, for several years, he was the sole proprietor of Bexar Calendar Company, a specialty advertising company catering to numerous local enterprises. Because Paul loved the game, he was a baseball umpire of high school, semi-pro and college games, doing this for decades. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time at the Lopez Senior One Stop Center, where he would engage in joyful conversations with numerous close friends. Paul especially enjoyed being with his family, most notably during the holidays, which was his favorite times of the year. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen V. Mendoza; son, Ronald E. Mendoza and wife, Susie R. Mendoza and their daughters, Felicia M. Smith and husband, Brad and their sons, Noah and Jacob, Melissa M. Tully and husband, George and their son, George Arthur and Jessica M. Mendoza; son, Roger G. Mendoza; son, Randall P. Mendoza and wife, Eva Yolanda Mendoza and their sons, Randall P. Mendoza II and wife, Marcianne and their daughter, Sophia, Raynor P. Mendoza and daughter, Rayven E. Mendoza; daughter, Rosanna Mendoza Goff and husband, Rick S. Goff and their daughter, Aly H. Peña; son, Rodney C. Mendoza and wife, Loretta P. Mendoza and their daughter, Eryka J. Mendoza and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
