Penny Cranek, age 48, of San Antonio, passed away at her home in San Antonio on January 22, 2013. Penny was born on March 8, 1964 in New Brunswick, NJ to Leon Gravatt and Barbara Willan. She honorably served her country enlisting in the United States Navy and retired in 2004 after 20 years. After retiring, Penny followed her passion with cross stitching and later learned the art of framing the finished pieces. She was a kind, loving, and giving person who always found the good in others. She served as a Sacristan for St Anthony Claret, a shining example of Christ's love through her Catholic Faith. In life Penny was dearly loved by many and in death she is greatly missed, though her spirit lives on eternally through her family and friends. She is survived by her husband John, son John Jr., daughter Sarah and niece Elisa, mother Barbara McGuire, father and step-mother Leon and Gale Gravatt, brother and sisters, Bill, Jill, Jeanine, Yvonne and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Her beloved sister Tammy and grand mother Gladys preceded her in death. A Visitation will be held from 6 to 9pm with a Rosary/Vigil at 7pm on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The Funeral Mass will be held at High Noon the following day at St Anthony Claret Catholic Church, Roft Road, San Antonio. A reception will follow at the Church Hall. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:15 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
