Raul Mario Perez was called home on Friday, December 6, 2013 after a long illness. He was at home with his family at his bedside. He was born and raised in Laredo, TX on May 29, 1928. He was a graduate of St. Mary's University. Raul served in the military from 1946-1949 in WWII, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a Radar Tech, his co-pilot was the "Lazy Daisy Mae" a B-29 that saw him through 18 missions over the North Pole, Alaska, Japan and Shemya Islands. He also worked 32 years at Kelly Air Force Base. Mr. Perez was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandmother, his step-son, Marcus Villareal; and his sister-in-law, Rachel Ann Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Betty Jean Perez and their son, Adam Patrick Perez (Darcy) and two grandchildren; his daughter, Norma Stella Perez/Norma P. Rodriguez; two stepchildren, Cecile Gomez (Pete), Anthony Villareal (Shelly); his brothers, Henry Perez (Dolly), Alex "Sonny" Perez (Rosie), Albert Perez (Marty); his sisters, Eva Perez Meña (Victor),Margie Perez Quiroga, Linda Perez Jimenez (Robert), Isabel Perez Cardenas (George); and numerous nieces and nephews. An extra special thanks to Dawn, how lucky we were to have a neighbor like you. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A procession will depart the funeral home at 12:30pm, for a 1:30pm graveside service at the Brown Cemetery in Atascosa County, Texas.
