MAHLER
Reuben E. (Ed) Mahler, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Oct. 29, 2013, at the blessed age of 91.

He was born in Rupert, Idaho on Oct. 16, 1922. He enlisted in the Army in 1940. He served in both WWII and the Vietnam wars and was awarded the Bronze Star for his exemplary conduct in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII. He retired from service in 1967.

Although Ed lived in San Antonio for many years, he also resided in Broxton, Ga., after retirement with his wife, Virginia "Jenny", for 17 years. They returned to San Antonio in 2006. Ed was an avid gardener and golfer, still enjoying a round of golf in Sept.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Maria Mahler; Brothers- Dee, Edwin, Art, Ben and Ray; Sisters- Elsie, Ella, Edna and Irene.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jenny; Sisters, Rose and Kate; Brothers, Ludwig Jr. and John; Son, Ed Jr. (Sherri) and Son Glenn (Frances); Stepsons, Paul Cowan (Debbie) & Emory Cowan (Trina). Ed was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on December 9th at 10am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
