Richard Byrd Obituary
Richard Charles (Dicky) Byrd of Canyon Lake passed away on November 18, 2013. He was a native of San Antonio, born to Martha and W.C. Byrd on June 20, 1933. He attended St. Cecillia's Catholic School and was a 1951 graduate of Brackenridge High School. He attended both Southwest Texas (now Texas State) and the University of Texas in Austin. He served two years in the U. S. Army followed by a successful thirty-year career as an electronics technician with the Federal Aviation Administration. He had many interests throughout his life. Two of his favorites were motorcycles and sailing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Krin; his daughter Linda Byrd and husband Rick Bailes of Stockdale, TX; his daughter Diana Johnson of Destin, FL; his son Chris Byrd, of Onalaska, TX; his brother William (Bill) Byrd and wife Billie, of San Antonio; and his sister, Patsy Logan and husband Jack of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his step-son, John Kessinger and wife Marty of Dallas, Oregon, and step-daughter, Nancy Kessinger Reinecke and husband Charles, of Wimberley, TX. Combined, he and Krin have 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at North Shore Methodist Church (23880 N. Cranes Mill Rd. Canyon Lake, TX 78133) on November 22, 2013 at 1:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the .
