SESSION
Ruby Cole Session, a retired educator in the Fort Worth Independent School District, slipped quietly away to the Father on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in the comfort of her residence.
Service: Her homegoing ceremony will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 19, at Saintsville Cathedral, 2200 Oak Hill Drive, the Rev. Milton Pace, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Eddie L. Smith eulogist. Interment: Lake Lawn Garden in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: Mrs. Session's friends may visit her 5 to 7 p.m. Friday as she lies in slumber in the Veronica Chapel at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Session was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Brenham. She graduated from Pickard High School in Brenham and attended Texas Southern University. She had five children with her first husband.
She moved to Fort Worth in 1964 and married her second husband, DeWitt Session, in Fort Worth in 1967.
The following year, she enrolled at Texas Christian University. In 1970, she was among the first 25 African-American women to graduate from TCU.
Mrs. Session first teaching assignment upon graduating was Denver Avenue Elementary School in the Fort Worth ISD. She retired as a first-grade teacher from Morningside Elementary in 1988. A beautiful life came to a sudden end Thursday following a brief illness. Mrs. Ruby Session will be missed by her loving family and many friends she met along her journey.

Mrs. Session was preceded in death by her husband DeWitt Session, Parents, Rev. L.C. Cole and Mrs. Mae Ella Moore. Sister Elsie Bradford, Brother L.C. Cole.

Survivors: Pleasant memories will live on in the hearts of her children: Karen Kennard, Kevin Kennard, Reginald Kennard (Antionette), Rodney Kennard, Sean Session and Cory Session Sr.; brother, Bennie L. Cole (Edithe); sister, Gloria Wills; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
