Rudy J. Guerrero, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. He was born September 11, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduating from Fox Tech High School, Rudy enlisted honorably and served in the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. His travels in the Air Force took him and his family to England, Korea, Japan, Philippines, New York, Virginia and retired in San Antonio in 1970. After retirement Rudy enjoyed golfing, serving in the Knights of Columbus, photography, and volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, the Wellness Clinic at Lackland AFB and St. Vincent De Paul Friendship house. Rudy was preceded in passing by his father, mother and grandson Michael Cortez. He is survived by his wife Carmen Guerrero, his children and their spouses, Diane Lucio (daughter), Mike Lucio (son-in-law), Ron Guerrero (son), Lisa Guerrero (daughter-in-law), Vangie Slanco (daughter), Greg Slanco (son-in-law), Debbie Cortez (daughter), Rick Cortez (son-in-law). Grandchildren, Jennifer Lucio Shaffer, Ryan Guerrero, Michelle Guerrero, Kenneth Cortez, Laura Cortez. Siblings, Delores Martinez, Mary Garcia, Isabel Schroeder, Joe and Irene Guerrero, Gregory Guerrero and many much loved nieces and nephews.
A Rosary, Mass and Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 8 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 4222 SW Loop 410. Rosary will begin at 9:30 A.M. and Mass at 10:00 A.M. Enichement with full Military Honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 12:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial offerings to St. Vincent De Paul Friendship House at 401 Cedarhurst Dr., SAT, 78227.
The family would like to thank Wilford Hall Internal Medicine, SAMMC and Christus Santa Rosa Hospital for all the care and love they provided for Rudy and his family. They are also grateful for the many caregivers he received at his home.
