FRANCIS
Sutton Francis , 85, of San Antonio, Texas died peacefully on December 9, 2013.
He was one of nine children born to George Francis and Sarah Mitchell Francis in Sweet Home, Texas in May 1928. He attended school in Giddings but graduated from Blackshear High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1945. After high school, he worked several jobs and in 1946 joined the Army and became an MP (Military Police). He served in the Korean War. He was stationed in several places some overseas. He met and married Maria Bollinger in Germany in 1955 to this union one daughter was born, Rosita. In February 1957, he met and married Telitha J Francis, to this union 5 children were born, Cynthia, Sandra, Sutton II, Iva, and Samuel.
He retired from the military in 1968 and moved to San Antonio, Tx. He taught high school R.O.T.C. at Wheatley High School for a year and then became a mail carrier for the next 20 years. He was a Deacon at Second Baptist Church
He leaves to cherish his memory 6 children: Rosita Thomas , Cynthia Francis-Cason, Sandra Francis-Chinn (Bruce), Sutton Francis II (Danielle), Iva Francis-Taylor, and Samuel Francis (Aleksandra); He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters: J.D. Francis (Faye), Alonia Roberson, Marshall Francis (Charles Etta) and Alice Brydson (Earl).
A wake will be held on Dec 17th from 6pm to 8pm at Second Baptist Church, 3310 E Commerce St., San Antonio, Tx 78220 The funeral service will be held on Wed, Dec 18th at 11am also at Second Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Francis Scott Scholarship Fund at Second Baptist Church. Arrangements: Lewis Funeral Home 811 S WW White Rd, San Antonio, Tx 78220
