Thomas Edwards Obituary
Thomas M. Edwards (T.M.) passed away on December 25, 2013 at home at the age of 89. He was born on February 29, 1924 in Lubbock, Texas to Taylor M. Edwards and Adele Andruss Edwards. T.M. was preceded in death by his beloved parents and a son Thomas M. Edwards, Jr. He is survived by his soul mate, best friend and loving wife Joy M. Edwards. In addition, he is survived by a daughter, Trudy Bell and one granddaughter, Erin Bell and a grandson Shawn Keith Edwards as well as most special friends Bob and Kay Cage and their three children Kodi, Shea, and Sunny and his secretary and co-worker for 40 years Betty Lutteringer. T.M. graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in the class of 1941 and entered St. Mary's University in the fall of that year. Following Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was subsequently commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and awarded his pilot's wings. He served as a fighter pilot in the European Theatre of Operations. On completion of his military duty, he returned to college and completed his degree in Economics and continued additional education in economics and insurance at UT, Southern Methodist, and Trinity universities. His professional life consisted of 43 years in business of insurance where he was a District and State Manager for two major insurance companies and founder of Village Insurance Agency in Helotes, Texas. He retired in 1989 selling his business to his partners. During his business career he served as a Director of the San Antonio Association of Insurance Agents, Charter President of Junior Chamber of Commerce, Director of 20-30 International, and Board of Directors at University National Bank. His religious affiliation was that of a lifelong Methodist and was currently a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. T.M. and Joy moved from San Antonio to Fredericksburg in retirement and enjoyed extensive traveling during their retirement years.

A Memorial graveside service and interment of his cremains will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at 12 noon in the Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his memory to the Boys and Girls Club of Fredericksburg, SPCA, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the .
